About Huntington Beach Art Center
The Huntington Beach Art Center is a community arts and cultural center serving Huntington Beach and the Southern California region. The Center presents the works of artists producing in all media. Through exhibitions, performances, film|video screenings, lectures and educational programming, the HBAC serves to advance public awareness and understanding of cultural, historic, and contemporary perspectives. The HBAC creates opportunities for local, regional and national artists and the community to share in a climate of experimentation, education and experience.

Reception: October 16, 2009, 7-9pmOpening in the Project Room is an exhibition entitled, Backyards and Kitchens that features new woodcuts and linocuts by artist Carleton Christy. The black and white prints are an exploration into spaces that convey surprising and unsuspecting taboos, found while traveling on the road or returning home. Christy is a Los Angeles based artist and will be the artist-in-residence at The Huntington Beach Art Center on the following days and times: Sunday, October 25 from 12 to 4 p.m., Sunday, November 1 from 1 to 3 p.m. and Sunday, November 15 from 1 to 3 p.m. Free and open to the public, Christy will assist the public in creating a small print of a backyard, kitchen, or house during the residency.
