Building Forms and Sculpture
Exhibition Dates: Monday, November 2, 2009 - Monday, December 7, 2009
Reception: Monday, November 2, 2009, 7-10pmThis course will quickly immerse you into sculptural techniques and concepts that you can use in your home studio. Over six weeks we will explore how to construct forms from easily acquired tools and materials such as found paper, wire, and paper mache. You will construct 3 dimensional drawings ala Alexander Calder’s early Zoo pieces with common bailing wire. We will staple, glue and sew paper of various thickness to form unique Collage/Assemblage works. Begin to select old drawings, maps, discarded card stock; basically paper that you can cut, fold, layer and alter. Materials fees cover the wire, chicken wire, staples and glue. Please bring found paper on the first day, library and 3 x 5 cards will be supplied. This initial piece can be a wall piece, building from an existing drawing/s that you bring in.
