drkrm. was founded by John Matkowsky who has a twenty-five year reputation as a fine art black and white printer in Los Angeles. Mentored by Tom Consilvio, the founder of Silver Lab, John learned the finesse of the fine artistic print while working on the images of Gary Winograd, William Claxton, Lou Stoumen. and many other renowned photographers. After the demise of Silver Lab in 2005, John formed drkrm. where he continues the tradition of fine art printing. drkrm. is a black & white lab dedicated to the highest quality of hand processing and fine printing, specializing in traditional, silver-gelatin printing and film processing.
